New Avigilon DESFire EV3 Cards

Starting November 8, 2023, Avigilon Alta moved from DESFire EV3-A cards to DESFire EV3-B to support a broader set of devices and readers.

The new DESFire EV3-B cards will come with Avigilon branding to make it easy for you to tell them apart from the EV3-A cards.

As of July 25th, 2024, Avigilion Alta switched from MIFARE Classic (CSN Only) fobs to DESFire EV3-B fobs. These new fobs can be used as MIFARE (CSN only) or DESFire (Secured). The new fobs have a different form factor than the MIFARE fobs, which tells them apart easily.

What does this mean for you?

  • If you are not using Allegion/Schlage locks there is no impact.

Customers with Avigilon Alta purchased Allegion locks, connected to an ENGAGE gateway using EV3-A DESFire cards
