The current Openpath Jira and Confluence instances will be migrated to the MSI On-Premise solution from August 9th-11th, the current platform will be set to read-only and all future usage will be in the Avigilon Instance. Please ensure access to MSI Jira & MSI Confluence, both are accessible through OKTA. For additional information and details please refer to the Atlassian migration page
How to track elevator floor usage
This article explains how to track which elevator floors are selected in an elevator cab using the Activity Logs report. This method uses Generic Inputs on the Avigilon expansion board that get triggered by relays on the elevator controller when a user selects a floor. Along with Entry events, an admin can use this configuration to help determine which user went to which floor.
Prerequisites
Available input(s) on an Avigilon expansion board.
You’ll need one input per floor.
Elevator system with relay(s) that are triggered upon floor selection.
You’ll need one relay per floor.
Wiring
For each floor that you’d like to track usage on:
Connect the NO terminal of the Elevator Controller output relay to the selected Input on the Avigilon board
On the 16 I/O Board, use Generic Inputs (example below).
On 4-Port and 8-Port Boards, use Contact, REX, or Auxiliary I/Os.
On the first gen 4-Door Controller, use Contact or REX inputs.
For the 16 I/O Board, connect the C terminal of the Elevator Controller relay to the positive terminal of the ACU 12/24V supply.
For 4-Port and 8-Port Boards or the first-gen 4-Door Controller, connect the C terminal of the relay to the negative (GND) terminal of the 12/24V supply.
Generic Input configuration
Go to https://control.openpath.com/login and log in. To access the European Alta Access, please go to https://control.eu.openpath.com/login.
Go to Devices > ACUs, then click on the ACU to edit it.
Click on the Ports tab.
Click Port next to the input you'd like to repurpose.
Select Generic Input from the Input Type dropdown.
In the Name field, enter a name that reflects the floor selection, such as “Cab 1 - 2nd Floor Selected”.
In the Description field, enter a useful description such as “Indicates elevator selection for historical reporting”.
Click Save.
Reporting
Once configured, you can audit elevator floor usage by running an Activity Logs report. Floor usage will be reported as a Generic Input, including the description provided during the ACU port configuration. The floor selection will be displayed in the Device Detail Name column which must be manually enabled.
To view elevator floor usage in the Activity Logs:
After running the Activity Logs report, click the Filter Items icon.
On the dropdown, scroll down and select Device Detail Name.
Note: User data will not be associated with the specific floor selection due to the nature of the workaround. The timing of events will closely align in the reports, but in scenarios where multiple users board the cab, it will not be possible to determine which user selected a given floor.
Note: To only display elevator floor usage events, filter the Event column with “Generic Input” and use text filters as needed (such as “elevator”).
