Video Intercom Virtual Directory

The Video Intercom Virtual Directory is an optional method for providing visitors with a graphical interface for searching and selecting who they will call from the intercom.

With the Virtual Directory enabled, businesses can easily provide visitors with a list of available users or units via a QR code placed near the intercom. Visitors simply scan the QR code with their phones, which gives them temporary access to the list of available users for that intercom.

When a visitor initiates a call using the mobile webpage, the intercom will start the call to the selected user or unit.

The list of available users is linked to the intercom’s scheduled routing profiles, ensuring that any configured availability is consistent across both the visitor directory and voice assistant methods for reaching users.

Note: To use this you will need to set up either Direct Connect profiles, Unit Connect profiles, or both.

Enabling the Intercom Virtual Directory

Note: You don’t have to enable this feature on every intercom.

  1. Go to Devices > Video intercom readers.

  2. Click to edit the intercom device to enable this feature on.

  3. Click the Virtual Directory tab at the top of the page.

  4. Toggle Enable Virtual Directory.

This will present you with a QR code, a download button, so you can print it out, a button to regenerate a new QR code if the old one gets destroyed, and the ability to preview what the visitor will see.

Below the QR code, optionally, you can give your directory a title, put in notes for the visitor, and select the values from the drop downs you want the visitor to see from the User directory and the Unit directory.

Once the Visitor scans the QR code they will be brought to the directory where they can choose to contact the User, the Unit, or the Front desk.

Intercom Virtual Directory QR Code Recommendations

The QR code image generated for the Intercom Visitor Directory can be incorporated into any signage or display needed by customers.

One option is to print out the QR code onto a weatherproof sticker to place near the Intercom.

An example of a simple-to-use solution would be the Printable Signs - Surface Safe Adhesive | Avery stickers are available in many different shapes and sizes and can be printed from inkjet and laser printers. Avery provides simple-to-use printing templates allowing you to print the QR code image generated from the Alta Access system onto their stickers.
