How to configure third-party keypad readers with Avigilon Alta

You can configure third-party Wiegand keypad readers to work with Avigilon Alta, as long as the reader can output the PIN to a format that is compatible with Avigilon Alta.

To configure a third-party keypad reader:

  1. Wire the keypad reader to an I/O on the Avigilon board.

    1. For Core Series hardware, refer to Core Series wiring instructions.

    2. For the Single Door Controller, use a Wiegand port or I/O configured as a Wiegand Device.

    3. For first-gen Avigilon hardware, use a Wiegand port on the 4-Door Controller.

  2. Create a Wiegand card credential in Alta Access.

    1. From the Card Format dropdown, select the appropriate card format for the reader.

    2. Enter the Facility Code configured for the reader.

      1. For example, if the reader is configured to use facility code 5, cards configured for PIN purposes will need facility code 5.

    3. In the Card ID field, enter the PIN to be used by the user.

    4. Click Save.

Now, when a user inputs their PIN into the third-party Wiegand keypad reader, Alta Access will report this as a successful card unlock.
