How to wire inputs and outputs on the Avigilon 16 I/O Elevator Board

The current Openpath Jira and Confluence instances will be migrated to the MSI On-Premise solution from August 9th-11th, the current platform will be set to read-only and all future usage will be in the Avigilon Instance. Please ensure access to MSI Jira & MSI Confluence, both are accessible through OKTA. For additional information and details please refer to the Atlassian migration page

How to wire inputs and outputs on the Avigilon 16 I/O Elevator Board

Inputs

The Avigilon 16 I/O Elevator board has 16 general-purpose inputs. The general-purpose inputs respond to voltages between 3V and 24V. The inputs will not respond directly to a switch or relay connected to the ground. To use these inputs with a switch or relay, connect one side of the switch to the input and the other side of the switch to a supply voltage between 3V and 24V. If desired, you can add a 1k ohm resistor in series with the switch.

To wire a general-purpose input:

  1. If using an external power supply, connect the ground (-) of the external supply to the ground (-) of the ACU’s main power supply.

Note: Avigilon Alta recommends that you use the “GND for INPUTS” on the I/O Elevator Board only if all input devices use the same voltage.

2. Connect one side of the input device (e.g. the C contact for an SPDT device) to the power supply.

3. Connect the other side of the input device (e.g. the NO or NC contact) to an available input on the I/O Elevator Board.

4. Repeat steps 2-3 for all input devices in use.

Below is an example diagram showing two input configurations: the “Input Device” has an optional 1k ohm resistor wired in series, and the “Switch” does not.

Outputs

The Avigilon 16 I/O Elevator board has 16 relay outputs, which are typically used for elevator buttons. Interrupt one of the signal wires from each button and run through the C and NC contacts for the corresponding relay on the 16 I/O Elevator Board. See the example below.
