2023 was a big year at Avigilon Alta (formally Openpath). With major hardware releases and software updates, we worked hard to optimize performance and give our customers an amazing experience with their cloud-based access control. Take a look at some of the features and products we released in 2023:

UI Update/Rebrand

We completed a rebrand to Avigilon Alta (formally Openpath) introducing a new look and feel to your Avigilon Alta Access interface.

UI Dark Mode

You can now select Light mode, Dark mode, or Match system themes for your Alta Access interface.

Workday Integration

We created a highly requested integration with Workday® Human Capital Management.

Alarm Management

We introduced Alarm Management, allowing users to create a detailed configuration of alarm events that generate notifications to specified users/roles. This release includes a new Alarm Dashboard view and Reporting to see alarm history and actions taken.

Video Intercom Reader Pro

We released the Video Intercom Reader Pro this year. This revolutionary access control hardware is a multi-technology reader with a built-in, high-resolution camera with two-way audio for intercom calls.

Video Intercom Virtual Directory

To complement the Video Intercom Reader Pro, we released the Video Intercom Virtual Directory. This is an optional method for providing visitors with a graphical interface for searching and selecting who they will call from the intercom.

Preferred Language

We have added the ability to set your preferred language in Alta Access, emails, and Mobile app. We currently support French, Spanish, Italian, German, or English based on the language and locale settings in your browser or you can select the language you want in your user profile. The Mobile app language is set within the device settings.

Site Specific Schedules

The Site-Based role, with the proper permissions, can set up a Site-Based Schedule. This means that the schedule created will only be applied to the site where their role is specified.

Three additional built-in role scopes

We added three new built-in roles to choose from, Dashboard Read-Only and two that require multifactor authentication, MFA-enforced Super Admin, and MFA-enforced Super Admin Read-Only.

Muster Reports

Another big request was Muster reports. This is an emergency response tool to quickly see known users who may be in your building during an emergency evacuation. Use this feature to rapidly generate a report, identify who may be on site, and mark them as safe as they are accounted for.

Device Update Management

The initial Device Update Management release provides a read-only view of the devices within Avigilon Alta Access. It includes details on when their default maintenance periods are set to run and when new updates are available.

Static Cloud IP

We released the Avigilon Alta Static Cloud IP which provides a direct connection to our cloud using permanent IP addresses. This greatly simplifies the configuration and management of customer network and firewall rules and provides a very simple solution for high-security network requirements.

Unification of Avigilon Alta services

For any customer using both Avigilon Alta Video (Aware), and Avigilon Alta Access (Control Center) the services are now more closely integrated for ease of use. Additional unified features are currently in development.

Activity Dashboard Optimization

We put a lot of work into optimizing the Activity Dashboard for improved speed and accuracy.

Service Principal for Microsoft Azure Active Directory

In addition to OAuth2, we have added OAuth Client (Service Principal) as a second type of authentication for Microsoft Azure.

Support for Okta SSO in the EU cloud

We have added the ability to use Okta SSO in our EU cloud.

No-Tour Mode for Schlage wireless locks

We built out and added No-Tour mode, allowing admins and installers to configure and manage Schlage wireless locks without gateway hardware.

New Avigilon DESFire EV3-B cards

We have moved from EV3-A DESFire cards to EV3-B DESFire to support a broader set of devices and readers.

New access control hardware

To continue to serve the diverse needs of our customers, we’ve released a new Access Control Core and Single Door Controller and have added two new large capacity Smart Hubs, the 12/24V Large Capacity 8-Door Smart Hub and the 12/24V Large Capacity 16-Door Smart Hub.
