The current Openpath Jira and Confluence instances will be migrated to the MSI On-Premise solution from August 9th-11th, the current platform will be set to read-only and all future usage will be in the Avigilon Instance. Please ensure access to MSI Jira & MSI Confluence, both are accessible through OKTA. For additional information and details please refer to the Atlassian migration page

How to connect an intercom to Avigilon Alta

To integrate your intercom system (Not the Avigilon Alta Video Intercom Reader Pro) with Avigilon Alta, connect a dry contact relay from each intercom to a REX input on the Avigilon Alta ACU. Twisted pair wiring is recommended.

Additionally, you can wire a REX sensor in parallel with the intercom (figures 1 and 2) or directly to your locking hardware (figures 3 and 4), depending on the door location and building code requirements.

Option 1: Wiring REX in parallel with the intercom

Option 2: Wiring REX to locking hardware

Note on using the intercom for access

Using the Intercom for Access

  1. Without an Avigilon Alta Smart Reader:

    • If you are using the intercom’s card reader for access without an Avigilon Alta Smart Reader, connect the W0, W1, and GND signals from the intercom to:

      • A Wiegand input on the 4-Door Controller, or

      • Any I/O pair on the 4-Port, 8-Port, or 16 I/O Elevator Board.

    • Ensure the intercom and ACU power supply share a common ground.

    • Refer to How to Wire Wiegand Devices to Core Series Hardware for more details.

  2. With an Avigilon Alta Smart Reader:

    • If an Avigilon Alta Smart Reader is installed at the same entry as the intercom:

      • Connect the Wiegand W0 and W1 signals from the intercom to the Smart Reader pigtail’s WD0 (Green) and WD1 (White) wires.

  3. Additional Considerations:

    • The REX signal can be routed back to the ACU using the same cable bundle as the Smart Reader wires, provided a spare twisted pair is available.

    • Run power for the intercom separately, as it may require heavier gauge wires.
