How to set up and use the Cisco Meraki integration

The current Openpath Jira and Confluence instances will be migrated to the MSI On-Premise solution from August 9th-11th, the current platform will be set to read-only and all future usage will be in the Avigilon Instance. Please ensure access to MSI Jira & MSI Confluence, both are accessible through OKTA. For additional information and details please refer to the Atlassian migration page

How to set up and use the Cisco Meraki integration

You can integrate Cisco Meraki with Avigilon Alta to associate video footage with access events.

Note: To enable this integration, you must have administrative access in your Cisco Meraki account and the ability to generate an API key. Refer to the Cisco Meraki Dashboard API documentation.

Meraki is included with a Premium or Enterprise license. For Basic, you will need to purchase the Meraki Add-on

Important: Meraki provides a feature that allows only specific IP addresses to pass through. However, this isn't compatible with Avigilon Alta because we use dynamic IPs and don't offer a fixed IP range that can be whitelisted.

To set up the Cisco Meraki integration

  • Click Create, then link your cameras to Avigilon Alta Entries.

    • Hover over the Play icon to preview the camera feed.

  • From the Linked Entries dropdowns, select the Avigilon Alta Entry to associate with each camera, then click Save.

Note: You can link multiple Entries to one camera as well as multiple cameras to one Entry.

View camera snapshots in the Activity Dashboard

Once configured, you’ll see a Camera column in the Activity Dashboard, where you can view snapshots of Entry events by hovering over the Play icon. Click on the Play icon to view the video footage in the Meraki dashboard. Snapshots may take up to a minute to appear in the Avigilon Alta Access.

View snapshots in the Visual Activity Report

You can also view snapshots in Reports > Visual Activity Report. Filter by user, site, entry, and time. Click on the Grid icon to adjust the size of the snapshots.

Include video footage with Entry Alerts

You can include links to video snapshots in your Avigilon Alta alerts by going to Configurations > Alerts and checking the box next to Include camera link.
