How do I disable the Avigilon Alta Open app's foreground services on Android?

Wave to Unlock allows you to unlock doors simply by approaching an Avigilon reader. This feature requires the Alta Open mobile app to run in the background, constantly checking for your proximity. If you prefer the app not to run in the background, you can disable this feature. However, you will then need to manually open the Alta Open mobile app each time you want to unlock a door.

To disable the foreground service
  1. Open the Alta Open app

  2. Tap on the menu icon in the upper left corner (aka the burger menu)

  3. Tap Settings

  4. Uncheck Wave to Unlock Service (previously known as Avigilon Alta Open Service)

  5. That's it! Avigilon Alta Open will no longer run in the background, but you'll need to open the Avigilon Alta Open app to unlock entries in the future.
